Comment Issues

I’m not gonna complain on my readers. I myself don’t comment much, so I don’t expect the same thing from you guys. However, I do get bummed from time to time when I don’t get any answer to the questions I ask on my posts. When I do ask something, that means I’m genuinely interested in knowing what other people think or how other people do certain things… so you know… if it’s not too much to ask for; could you please answer my questions :( ?

Today my question to you guys is if you’ve had a year. Not just any year… The Year. The year that was yours. The year that was really good. That year which, when someone mentions it, you go: “ah… that was a good year!”. I’m not sure if I’ve had one yet, but maybe I’m starting to get there. What if… 2012 is My Year? I mean things aren’t going exactly like I planned, but they’re going better than they have been going recently… and that’s huge for me. I mean I’d love to have a Year. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see :) ! So… have you had a Year ;) ?

Do YOU need to take this class maybe?

Another thing I need to get off my chest is how some of you guys, mostly people who I assume don’t read my blog regularly, hit and run. I’ve mentioned the hit and run thing before, can’t remember which post, but it’s basically when you comment on something and then don’t bother to follow up. You don’t read my reply and you don’t reply to it. You just say whatever you want, not even caring whether you understood my post right or not, and never look back again. That’s mean. Please don’t hit and run on my blog. At least have the decency to sign up for notifications of follow-up comments.

  1. Difficult this one Rinth! I never click follow on comments because wordpress show me all replies on my screen. I check comments regularly and see if someone has replied to a comment I left. If they did it all depends what they wrote next as to whether I reply again. Sometimes it just perpetuates a conversation that doesn’t really need it.

But others do fly past our blogs and just want to leave an occasional comment. Can we really dictate how they are to appreciate a post? Can we really say “don’t comment unless you’re gonna show commitment to this conversation?”

I’m not sure, to be honest…

    • Maybe not… but I’m starting to suspect that the same people comment like that on my blog, and that bothers me. Cuz in 9 out of 10 cases these “anonymous comments” have been… well… rough is the best word I can come up with. And I don’t think that’s a coincidence…

        • Yeah… I didn’t before, but now I’ve fixed it so that only WordPress users can comment. I’d rather have people who know at least some about me (having read more of my posts), who are willing to share about themselves as well, comment rather than anonymous people. If you guys give critique I won’t mind. I might argue, but at the end of the day one person or the other will gain some knowledge. But criticizing me directly or indirectly under different anonymous aliases… well that’s just lame.

  2. Ahh…so I’m not the only one! I’ve been through (and am still going through) the same situation. I ask something in my post and hardly anyone ever responds to it. And when it comes to commenting, I’d rather not start on that right now! :) About the question you asked – no, I don’t think I’ve had one yet. I don’t know if 2012 could possibly be my year. Nothing has gone horribly wrong yet, but let’s just wait and see. :)

Amuse me with your thoughts.
